Food Truck Licensing

Please Note

Per Colorado Revised Statute 43-3-101(3) –

Except as provided in subsection (4) of this section, section 32-9-119.8, and part 15 of article 1 of this title 43, a commercial enterprise or activity for serving motorists, other than emergency services for disabled vehicles, shall not be conducted or authorized on any property designated as or acquired for or in connection with a freeway or highway by the department of transportation or any other governmental agency. At locations deemed appropriate by the transportation commission, the department of transportation shall construct local service roads, which open into or connect with a freeway, in such manner as to facilitate the establishment and operation of competitive commercial enterprises for serving users of the freeway on private property abutting such local service roads.

Requirements and Restrictions

To operate a Food Truck within the Town of Kiowa, certain requirements and restrictions must be met. Please see the full food truck ordinance for details on what is permitted. If you feel you meet the requirements for operating a food truck, fill out and submit the application and acknowledgment form along with the $50 application fee. Failure to fill out the application completely or submit all the required documents may result in a delay in processing your application.

Please send all applications and other documents to sdavidson@townofkiowa.com.

Food Truck Licenses are good for up to one (1) year until December 31st of each year. Issued licenses will be a different color each year to make valid licenses easier to identify. Licenses will need to be placed in an easily visible location on each truck.

A Food Truck License will not be issued until Elbert County Environmental Health and the Kiowa Fire Protection District. For more information on the health department's requirements, please contact Elbert County or 303-621-2341.

Vendor Licenses are no longer valid for food trucks participating in special one-time events such as Kiowa Music in the Park or Fall Fest. A Food Truck License is required for these and all other events within the Town.

Please contact Town Hall at 303-621-2366 if you have any further questions.
