Free Online Live Course on Intro to Water Administration & Water Rights

The Kiowa Water and Wastewater Authority Board would like to invite those interested in attending a 1-hour online live course being hosted by the Colorado Division of Water Resources (CDWR) on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 11:15 am to 12:30 pm, here at Kiowa Town Hall (404 Comanche Street).

Community Meeting: CO-86 Sidewalk and Drainage Improvements

The Town of Kiowa has hired Kimley-Horn and Associates to assist with Sidewalk and Drainage Improvements for CO-86. CO-86 serves as the main street of Kiowa and a vital regional connector. However, aging infrastructure has made navigating the street difficult. Challenges include icy conditions in the winter due to poor drainage and sidewalks that do not meet ADA standards, making walking difficult.

Black Hills Energy advises of a disruption in service near Kiowa, Colorado

Kiowa, Colo. – August 29, 2024 – On Thursday, August. 29, a portion of Black Hills Energy facilities near Kiowa, Colo. was damaged, resulting in a disruption of service to customers. To safely facilitate the repair process, technicians will go door to door to turn off gas meters in the impacted area. After making repairs and repressurizing the system, our technicians will begin restoring service to impacted customers through Friday, August 30, 2024, including re-lighting of gas appliances.

Elbert County Sesquicentennial 2024

Elbert County was established on February 13, 1874, and its 150th birthday is almost here! Earlier this fall various municipalities and community organizations, including the Elbert County Historical Society, gathered together to form the 150th Anniversary Committee and start planning for this once-in-a-lifetime event.

As many of you are aware, due to the unprecedented amount of moisture we have experienced this summer, we are now dealing with the pests that come as a result. Thus, the Town has contracted with a company called Mosquito Authority to assist in eradicating the tremendous mosquito issue we are encountering right now. However, due to many other communities experiencing the same, the company is swamped with contractual commitments and had to squeeze the Town in this Saturday. You
