Ceremonial Flag Presentation in Honor of Mayor Howard

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard will be in Kiowa this Thursday, January 29, at 10:00 a.m. to ceremonially fly two American flags in front of Kiowa Town Hall. These flags will later be presented to Mayor Howard’s family at her memorial services on February 7.

The honor guard flying American flags before a service symbolizes deep respect and remembrance. It signifies that:

“This moment matters. This person is worthy of the highest honor, and we recognize that not just privately, but as a community and a nation.”

Take survey #2 and share your thoughts!

We're wrapping up our community input phase and need your voice one last time! This final survey builds on the feedback from Survey #1 and will help us finalize the design and grant application for major park upgrades.

What we need from you:

  • Final input on top project priorities
  • Feedback on features identified in the first survey
  • Community support for the grant application

Note: The survey deadline is December 15.

Thank you for helping make our parks better for everyone!

The Town of Kiowa is working on a grant-funded project to improve the two parks in town. Community comments about the park(s) have been used to create the initial designs; however, we would like your input to help to finalize the scope of the project. Please keep in mind that the project budget and scope is at the discretion of the funders involved in the project as their guidelines for funding dictate what can (or cannot) be included. We will be applying for funding this winter. If funded, the project will be built in summer 2026.
